The firm was founded by Floyd
Nichols in 1947. Shortly thereafter, J.O. Peterson joined
the firm and later Lloyd Peterson. Robert C. Tuveson was a fixture of the firm from
the 50's to 1987. Bob A. Goldman joined the firm in 1968 and
for many years the firm was known as Tuveson and Goldman with
partners Bob A. Goldman and Robert C. Tuveson. The firm
served as Freeborn County Attorney for a number of years
throughout the 60's and 70's, until the county went full-time.
Bob Tuveson also served as City Attorney for the City of Albert
Lea.
The Sturtz name became a part
of the firm in 1987 when Robert D. Sturtz joined the firm and
became a partner in 1991. Since 1923 there has been a Sturtz
attorney in Albert Lea, going back to William Prescott Sturtz
(1923-1980) and William Rosenberg Sturtz (1952-1969, District
Court Judge 1969-1990), although the elder two worked for a
different firm.
In 1995 the firm became
Goldman, Sturtz & Halvorsen. Allan L. Halvorsen joined
the firm in 1991 and became a partner in 1995. The firm expanded to
Iowa representation in 2000. A key facet of the firm then
was that all of the attorneys in the firm were Freeborn County
natives. We felt that to be important, given the sensitive
nature of the law business.
In 2003, the law firm hired Holly
A. Wallace as an associate. We expanded again, gaining
representation in Wisconsin.
